Diana Lurie, PhD, Board CHAIR

Diana I. Lurie, PhD., is a Professor of Neuropharmacology at The University of Montana and directs a research laboratory focusing on neuroinflammation, and the response of the nervous system to natural products, including Ayurvedic herbs. Dr. Lurie is an Ayurvedic Practitioner and teaches neuroscience, Anatomy and Physiology, and courses in Ayurveda. Diana has served on the NAMA National Exam Sub-committee almost from the beginning and continues to be a major contributor.

Anusha Sehgal Parivallal BAMS, MD (Ayu) 

Board Chair

Anusha Sehgal , BAMS, MD (AYU) is a classically trained Ayurvedic physician with over 15 years of experience in teaching, practice, and research in the field of Ayurveda. Anusha has taught classical Ayurveda at all levels of education both in India and the US. She has been involved in controversial research regarding standardization, quality control and safety of Ayurvedic medicines. A strong advocate for generating awareness of authentic Ayurveda through teaching, presentations, and writing, she has worked with various groups including Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO), and Harvard School of Public Health. She is currently involved with the Indo US Health Initiative, focused on mainstreaming Ayurveda and Integrative medicine. She also serves faculty at the Boston Ayurveda School and Ayurvedic Health Education.

Anne (Sharada) Meneghetti, MD

Following medical school, Dr. Meneghetti obtained board certifications in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, and Critical Care Medicine. She studied Ayurveda with Dr. Vasant Lad at the Ayurvedic Institute Pune Gurukula program. For several years, she served on the NAMA Board of Directors. She now leads a team of physicians and pharmacists in developing content for a leading mobile medical reference app.

Sivarama 'prasad' vinjamury, Md (ayurveda), Maom, mph

Prasad is currently working as a Professor of Research at SCU, Whittier, California and is the Director of Capstone research. He also provides clinical services at the Students Health and Counseling Center at CSUF. he has been a principle investigator of studies on Fibromyalgia, Hypertension and Insomnia. Recently, he has been awarded a mini-grant to investigate the effects of acupuncture on chemotherapy induced peripheral neuropathy in breast cancer patients.

Hilary Garivaltis, AP

Hilary Garivaltis is the principle founder of Ayurvedic Health Education Services LLC, which offers educational and training programs in Ayurveda throughout the United States and Canada. Hilary is the Founder and former Dean of the Kripalu School of Ayurveda, and has more than 16 years of experience in teaching Ayurvedic daily living tools and Ayurvedic therapy techniques. Hilary has served on the National Ayurvedic Medical Association board since 2006 and is active in advancing Ayurvedic medicine through initiatives throughout the United States.

Cynthia Copple

Cynthia Copple is the author of Know Your Blueprint: The Ayurvedic Secret to Restoring Your Vitality and Passion in 30 Days. She co-founded and and is past-President of the National Ayurvedic Medical Association (2000) and also co-founded and is former Dean of the Mount Madonna Institute College of Ayurveda (2006).  She is Director of Lotus Holistic Health Institute which she founded in Santa Cruz, CA, in 1982. She is on the teaching staff of MMI College of Ayurveda and Meru Institute. She loves to inspire others and enthusiastically share the effects of food and lifestyle on health anhappiness according to Ayurveda.

Dhaval Dhru, md


Dhaval Dhru MD is Associate Professor and Chair, Department of Ayurvedic Sciences, Bastyr University, Kenmore WA. He is a retired ENT Surgeon with more than twenty years of experience. He practices as an Ayurvedic practitioner, ayurvedic yoga therapist and educator of Ayurveda and Yoga at Bastyr Center of Natural Health and also at Federal Way Ayurveda and Yoga. He conducts Ayurvedic retreats/workshops and teaches Ayurvedic seminars and Ayurvedic yoga therapy at various locations nationally as well as internationally
