In Ayurveda, national certification through the NAMA Certification Board (NAMACB) serves to protect the public and strengthen the profession by establishing clear, rigorous benchmarks for competency and professional conduct. By recognizing qualified practitioners across diverse educational pathways, certification supports professional credibility, advances the responsible integration of Ayurveda within the U.S. healthcare landscape, and honors the depth and integrity of the Ayurvedic tradition.
2025 Updates
Newest Designation: As Ayurveda continues to grow in the United States, national organizations periodically review professional titles to ensure clarity and consistency. Beginning in April 2025, individuals newly certified in this category will hold the designation Certified Advanced Ayurvedic Practitioner (CAAP).
The former title, Ayurvedic Doctor Level Certified (ADLC), remains in use for practitioners who were certified or grandfathered into this level prior to the introduction of the CAAP exam. Both CAAP and ADLC represent the same advanced level of education, training, and professional competency. This update reflects a change in professional title only and does not affect qualifications, scope of practice, or services provided.
